What we collect, why we collect it, and how to tell us to stop. In plain English.
Who we are
Muskoka Digital Boost is a web development studio based in Orillia, Ontario, serving Muskoka and Simcoe County. For the purposes of this policy we are the organisation responsible for the personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at asuter@muskokadigitalboost.ca or (437) 225-1540.
What we collect
We only collect two kinds of information: what you type into a form, and basic analytics about how the site is used.
Information you give us
When you fill in our contact form or apply for one of our free websites, we collect what you enter — typically your name, business name, email address, phone number, your location and industry, details about your current website, your budget and timeline, and anything you write in a message box. You choose what to put in these fields, and you are never required to use the form — you can phone or email us instead.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site. This records things like the pages you visit, roughly how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use, an approximate location based on your IP address, and which link or advertisement brought you here.
If you arrive from one of our ads, we also record which ad it was, so we can tell which of our advertisements are actually working. This is stored alongside your enquiry if you go on to submit a form.
We do not use this to identify you personally, and we do not sell, rent or trade any of it.
Why we collect it

Cookies and similar technologies
Google Analytics sets cookies on your device to tell returning visits apart from new ones and to measure how the site is used. These are analytics cookies — they are not used to build an advertising profile of you on this site.
You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, and the site will continue to work normally. You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's official opt-out browser add-on.
Marketing emails and your CASL rights
We will only add you to a marketing list if you gave express consent by ticking the box on one of our forms. That box is never pre-ticked, and leaving it unticked has no effect on your enquiry or your application.
Replying to your enquiry is not marketing — we will always respond to something you asked us about, whether or not you opted in.
You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by emailing asuter@muskokadigitalboost.ca. We action unsubscribes promptly and, in any case, within the 10 business days CASL allows.
Who else sees your information
We keep your information to ourselves. It is shared only with the service providers we need to run the site:
- Formspree — processes our form submissions and delivers them to our inbox.
- Google (Tag Manager and Analytics) — provides the website analytics described above.
- Our web host — stores the website itself and keeps standard server logs.
Some of these providers process data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, which means that information may be subject to the laws of those countries. We will also disclose information if we are legally required to.
We never sell your personal information, and we never share it with other advertisers.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and applications are kept for as long as we may reasonably need them for follow-up and our business records — generally around three years — after which they are deleted. If you become a client, project records are kept for as long as the law requires us to keep business records. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit. Access to form submissions is limited to the people who need it to respond to you. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the sensitivity of what we hold — which is business contact details, not payment or financial information. We never ask for payment details, passwords or government identification through this website.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can, at any time:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Withdraw your consent to marketing, or to our use of your information generally.
- Complain about how we have handled your information.
Email asuter@muskokadigitalboost.ca and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This site is aimed at business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Our site links out to other websites, including those we have built for clients. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we do not operate — have a look at their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be posted on this page.
